2009-10
The 09 Dolphins are ready to get back to the playoffs and to the organizations winning ways. The team parted ways with a number of players who were released (Matt McChesney and Kelvin Smith – waived, John Beck Todd Lowbar, Scorpio Babers and Jy Bond – released and DE Vonnie Holliday had his contract terminated on March 2nd. The team traded Tony McDaniel to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a seventh round 2209 draft pick and Samson Satele to the Oakland Raiders for a sixth round pick and a swap of 4th round picks in 2009. In the draft, the team used their number 1 pick to snap up Illinois CB Vontae Davis (25th overall) and picked up West Virginia QB Pat White with the 2nd pick (44th overall). The Dolphins used 5 of their 9 picks for offensive players. With the Super Bowl being hosted in Sun Life Stadium, the Dolphins look to become the 1st team to host and play in the Super Bowl.
2008-09
The 2008 Miami Dolphins began making changes to the makeup of the team in late 07 as Bill Parcels was names the Executive VP of Football Operations for the Dolphins. After the season finale, Parcells fired GM Randy Mueller and a few weeks later fired Head Coach Cam Cameron along with most of his staff. Parcells then went out and hired Tony Sparano as the new head coach, Jeff Ireland as the new GM, signed U of M star offensive lineman Jake Long, released LB Zach Thomas and traded DE Jason Taylor to the Redskins for a 2nd round draft pick. Rounding out the staff, Parcells then hired Dan Henning as the new offensive coordinator.
The Fins then picked up QB Chad Pennington in week four. Parcels and Sparano began experimenting with the “Wildcat” offense and was used to gain victories over the New England Patriots and the San Diego Charges (both playoff teams from 07).
The Dolphins completed the most improbable turnaround in team history and finished the season at 11-5, winning the AFC East but losing in the Wild Card Round of the Playoffs to the Baltimore Ravens.
2007-08
Trent Green began the season as the Starting QB but after four games into the season, Green was put on injured reserve and the Fins rotated reserves Cleo Lemon and John Beck. The Dolphins also played a game against the New York Giants in London’s Wembley Stadium, the 1st NFL game played outside of North America. Then another setback as the NFL’s leading rusher Ronnie Brown went down with a season ending knee injury in week seven and the team finally ended a 16-game losing streak against the Baltimore Ravens. The team finished the regular season at 1-15, tying an NFL record (that would be broken by the Lions in 08)
